A free SAT main idea and purpose game
Approved! is a browser reading game that trains one SAT skill: main idea and purpose. You play Forgeholm's loan officer, where every application gets funded no matter what. Your job is to read each letter and file two things: what the business is, and what the money is actually for. Applicants open with their loudest complaint, and that complaint is usually not the real request.
How to play
Read the application on the left. In the file on the right, choose the trade the applicant runs, then set the purpose of funds as a verb and an object: what the money will actually do. Hit file it and pay out, and the town buys exactly what you wrote. Match the real request and Forgeholm settles down; back the loudest complaint and chaos climbs toward dragons. You get six applications a shift.

What SAT skill does it train?
Main idea and purpose, sometimes called central ideas, on the SAT Reading and Writing section. Figuring out what the money is really for is the same skill as finding a passage's main point instead of a loud supporting detail.
What happens if I misfile an application?
The town pays out for what you wrote anyway, and Forgeholm gets a little worse. Enough wrong filings and the dragons arrive and the shift ends early. A clean filing walks the town back toward calm, so a mistake or two is recoverable.
